When to replace your mattress: 6 signs it is time

3 min read · Published 4 November 2026 · Equatorial Sleep

There is no fixed expiry date. How long a mattress lasts depends on its materials, how it is used and how it is cared for. Look for these signs.

Six signs

  1. Visible sagging. A dip where you usually sleep that stays when you get up.
  2. Waking up stiff or sore when you did not before, and feeling better in other beds.
  3. Lumps or uneven areas in the surface.
  4. Noise or loose springs you can feel through the top.
  5. Lower comfort overall. It no longer feels like it did when it was new.
  6. Allergy or hygiene concerns that cleaning does not fix.

Check your warranty first

Our 10-year limited warranty covers sagging deeper than 2.5 cm, material defects and failure of the cooling layer. It does not cover stains, normal wear or damage from improper support. If you think your mattress qualifies, you can start from our warranty page.

Before you replace it

Check your frame or base, and rule out simple fixes such as a worn-out topper or old pillows. If the mattress itself is the issue, take your sleep needs with you when you shop. Our buying guide and a free fitting make the choice easier.
